Once upon a time, in a cold forest to the north, there lived a little white bear named Little Snow, born at the end of autumn.
He had seen red and yellow leaves, seen the grey sky, heard his mother say “snow will come soon” — but he didn’t know what snow actually was.
One night, Little Snow fell asleep in his warm cave.
When morning came, he woke to strange, bright light shining in from the cave entrance.
He walked outside, and stopped completely still.
The whole world had turned white.
White trees, white ground, white sky. Everything was silent and beautiful in a way he couldn’t describe.
Little Snow took his first step onto the snow. Crunch. His foot sank in just a little — cool and soft.
He jumped and played in the snow, lay down in it, gazing up at the white sky.
His mother came out and found her cub lying in the middle of the snow.
“Little Snow, how is it?”
“Warm,” Little Snow said, even though his body was cold.
His mother looked puzzled. “Snow is cold, my dear.”
“But inside I’m warm,” Little Snow said, “because the world is so beautiful.”
His mother lay down beside him, and together they gazed up at the white sky.
The two of them lay there for a very long time, until snow began falling again — onto their noses, their ears, their paws.
Before heading back into the cave, Little Snow looked out once more. The beautiful white world would still be waiting for him tomorrow.
Close your eyes now… outside, the beautiful white snow is falling… when you wake tomorrow, it will still be there… sweet dreams tonight…
Moral: Sometimes great happiness comes from discovering something new we’ve never seen before. Always keep eyes that see the world with wonder, because the world is full of marvels waiting to be discovered every day.
