Once upon a time, behind a tall stone wall in the heart of the city, there was a garden no one had entered for a hundred years.
A girl named Malee found a rusted iron gate one day while playing nearby. She pushed on it, and it swung open.
Inside the garden, everything had stopped completely.
Roses hung frozen mid-bloom, their petals suspended in the air. A butterfly hovered motionless at the height of Malee’s head. A fountain had water droplets frozen midair. A bee hung still above a flower.
Malee walked through in amazement, reaching out to touch the frozen butterfly. It was cold, but not dead — simply stopped.
Then she noticed her own legs beginning to move more slowly.
This garden was pulling everyone who entered into its frozen time as well.
Malee tried to run out, but her legs grew heavier and heavier. She looked around for a way out, and spotted an old sundial in the middle of the garden, its hand snapped in half.
She forced her heavy legs to walk toward the sundial. Looking closely, she saw the broken hand had fallen to the side.
Malee picked it up and tried to fit it back into place, but her hands, too, were beginning to slow.
She took a deep breath, focused everything she had, and slowly pushed the hand back into the sundial.

Time began to move again.
The butterfly flapped its wings. The rose bloomed. The fountain flowed. The bee flew on. And Malee’s legs instantly felt light again.
The garden had come back to life after a hundred years.
Malee walked out feeling something she couldn’t quite explain —
that time moving forward was precious, and that every second truly lived was far more beautiful than standing still forever.
Moral: Time that has passed cannot be stopped, but we can choose how we use it. Every day that passes is an opportunity that never returns. Make it meaningful, both for yourself and for those you love.
